| BUYO-BUYO-IGOR writing,
I'm building an virtual orchestra on my web-site.
http://www.mars.dti.ne.jp/~buyobuyo/songs/one.html
This page has some simple fragments for this orchestra's standard "Song
No.1".
The idea is to have a bunch of links aimed to files on other people's
site...this file can be anything (midi,csound-orc&sco,max-
patch,aiff...etc) but have to have relationship to what is mentioned as
key fragments.
Would someone create files for this orchestra?
thanx

Where did the term "compilation" to refer to the time it takes a
csound program to execute originate? This is really not the correct
term, although most people understand what it means.

We have been planning to add a progress bar to the PPC version. But an
estimated time would be very difficult. Each instrument could have vastly
different compile times, so csound would have to test each instrument before
running. Then there would be the question of conditional behavior inside an
instrument. So basically it would add overhead at the beginning and result in
a most likely wrong estimate of the time needed anyway.

Yes, it would interesting to know how far the rendition has progressed.
I have long wished (and sometimes thought I should suggest) that the
"heartbeat" character is changed, or that a numerical heartbeat
option is added.
The present heartbeat on console versions is a rotating dash, like
/ - \ | etc. (The first heartbeat was to output a dot for each sample
buffer written; that actually gives more information than the present
version.) The new heartbeat would state how many samples (and seconds
of sound) have been generated. If the user knows how long the output
file will be, this would do for a progress bar.
To change the existing heartbeat is the simplest, since it only
requires a minor change in one file (soundio.c, lines 156 and 176),
but that's up to John, and of course other users, if you like the idea.

An old bug in diskin in with the code merge:
change line 1127(or there abouts) in function
newsndinset() in soundin.c:
long nbytes = *p->iskptim * p->sr *p->sampframsiz;
to:
long nbytes = (long)(*p->iskptim * p->sr) * p->sampframsiz;
for obvious reasons this produced problems with skip times that had a few
digits past the decimal point.
sorry for any problems,
