Opcode for Picture->Audio?

SubjectOpcode for Picture->Audio?
Hello,

One of the few features that Csound does not have is the ability to convert
a picture into audio. There are a few programs that do this, usually
transforming x into time, y into frequency and color into
amplitude/magnitude. Perhaps this would best be implemented as a utility
routine that would convert the audio into phase vocoder format.

Just a suggestion for an ambitious soul...

Bye,
Hans Mikelson

has anyone on this list done any work with single sideband (freq shifter)
instr's in Csound? any examples of this would be appreciated...

 hello all...

i tried tonight to connect perf (0.3b1 and 0.3.4b2) to OMS (2.2) and got
a little bit of success, but things were not amazingly convincing.

first of all, how do i assign perf to anything? i thought it would have
worked on an IAC buss, but i found no way to specify which. I found perf
got the MIDI sent on all ports (except maybe QuickTime), which is not
terribly convenient.

second, perf did not seem to get all the events, and most of those it got
were quite choppy (a mono sine wave on a 604e/180, with varying buffers,
plenty of RAM).

anyone got a clean connection with perf through OMS?

 thanks!

hello, I'm David, 20 years old, I live in Belgium.

I run a pentium 166 (cyrix)
32mb ram with Win95 and WinNT4
Within a while I'll install Linux and Xwindows with the Enlightenment
manager.
I have no sound equipment besides two technics sl1200 mkII turntables
and a SB16 card.....The most valuable tool I have is my mind and it's WACKO
idea's !! (it seems that they keep coming on strong these times, actually
the
more the 21th century approaches, the more I tend to go wild and
experimental ;-))
Lots of inspiration for me comes from esoteric literature, the afterlife,
astral
projections wich I practice, near death experiences, contemporary paintings
( as well as their visual geometry as their cognitive aspects : I scan
photo's of
contemporary paintings and combine that frequency-amplitude picture with
my own cognitive interpretations of it, beat this !! ;-)) )

My interests go to all stuff in the field of acousmatic and electroacoustic
sound
and music. But somewhat more specific I'm interested in what I tend to call
psychofictional emotional mental-movie music, drones, electronic assaults,
sonic isolationism, astral environments, gestural textures and EVERYTHING
that is experimental and artistic/scientific.

Me myself I do painting and drawing, computer art and -music.

cya folks !

Hello,

For those of you using PPC Macs, check out MetaSynth at :
http://www.uisoftware.com/PAGES_FLASH/ms_presentation.html. It's not
Csound, I know, but it uses graphics to produce sound. I have not used this
program, but would be interested in knowing the opinions of anyone who has
any experience with it.
