| Hi!
I'd like to get "smooth", "beautiful", "pretty", "cool" e.t.c. sound for
background,
something like "pad" sounds from standard GENERAL MIDI set.
Does anybody have some sco+orc for it? Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Sergey Batov batov@glasnet.ru

Granular does a good job at generating pads. Try
http://www.werewolf.net/~hljmm/csound/granulr2.orc , sco
Otherwise use band-limited analog synthesis with resonant filters with lots
of detuned sawtooth oscillators and filters all sweeping slowly in different
directions.

I might be just confused about which list I saw a thread on OSS Linux
sound support on.
If this is the wrong list then I apologize.
If it is then I should have read the thread a bit more carefully.
However I'd still like to throw a question out. I've just install Linux
(RH5.1) with the intention of running a Cecilia and a few other
interesting looking sound tools.
Obstacle, sound card configuration. Out of my two sound cards one with
ESS1868 chipset (?), and a Card D+ I'm hoping to get one working. My
preference would be the Card D+ but very little information is available
on this with a seeming "it hasn't been done yet".
Can anyone give me some pointers as to support for either of these two
cards under Linux?
Again, sorry for the off topic.

Hi,
Anyone out there who can help me with this?
I have downloaded all files in csound.ppc from
ftp://mill.edu/ccm/csound.ppc, but am unable to open Csound3.485beta.sit.
My PowerMac says that I do not have the application program to run it. Is
it true that I need to have a C program software running in my computer
before I can use the launchers in csound.ppc?
Or are there any other site that I can download csound for PowerMac. I
know that all the sites for PowerMac download that are listed in the Csound
Frontpage could not be accessed at the time being, and I don't know why.
Please advise.

Hi!
As there is a demand for orcs and scos you will find at
http://pages.pratique.fr/~pesch/csound/csound.html
some examples using the locsig and locsend opcodes to distribute sounds in
circles (2 channels).

G'day there.
Say, would anyone know...If there is a version of ppc csound for mac
that supports scot? I find 3.485(b) has eliminated it. I also find
3.47(b) thinks there's garbage in the scot file - I have ensured that
the garbage is not hidden in the text. A curious problem, and I'm sure
Scot's being phased out for a reason... but say, maybe someone could
indulge me.

Hi SeeSounders,
I'm doing another ambient piece in Csound and I need to know some things :
Again, its kind a hard to describe what I want...I'll try :
There are pads running in the background and I want suddenly a harmonic
tone coming up with a feedback that takes
over from the tone....You all know that feedback is mostly unwanted, but I
want that kind of feedback that sounds like
a distinct overtone....Then at a certain moment the feedback "splits" in a
wider stereofield with reverb on it....
I have heard this effect in a track called "Flotsam suspended in Solar
wind", by Voice of Eye.
My questions are :
- How can I create an "overtone" like feedback from a goven sound (either a
synthesized sound or a looping sample)
- How can I do this in such a way that I can handle the feedback as if it
was a seperate sound !! (this is a difficult one I think)
I'm sorry for being not so clear, but this is what happens when someone is
obsessed by sound experimentation while not
having professional education on the field.
If anyone can feel what I try to say here, feel free !
David.
