SubjectNewbie using Mac OS X 10.12 Sierra & Csoundqt & Csound
I am new to Csound and Csoundqt using Mac OS X 10.12 Sierra. I have downloaded csound6.09.1-OSX-universal.dmg, csound~.mxo & the git folder for csound-6.09.1 with all of the sources & other files. I have also downloaded the program Csoundqt where I was hoping to implement my Csound downloads (along with in Xcode). My problem is when I try to open Csoundqt-d-py-cs6.app I get the following message:
"This version of CsoundQt requires Csound 6.09 or newer. Please download it from http://csound.github.io/download".
I have Csound and CsoundQt in .dmg and git folder form as I've mentioned above but I still get this message when trying to open my CsoundQt-d-py-cs.app.
The Readme file that came with the Csound .dmg said that it was usable up until Mac OS X 10.11. Is there anything I can do to make these files and folders usable in Mac OS X Sierra? Or is there anything else I can do with what I have to get started working with Csound?

hi patrick -

that sounds strange indeed. can you please open a terminal window and
just type
csound
and press return?

you should get some output of csound containing the version number.

can you report here?

Hi,

CsoundQt definitely works on OSX Sierra. Might be that I entered wrong condition to last version of CsoundQt installer... Unfortanetly I am out of town and cannot check...  Very sorry if this is my mistake.
But first, make sure, what is your Csound version as Joachim suggested. What about other osx users?

You cam also try to install CsoundQt
from

This was reported to work.

I see above a few lines "Csound Command ERROR: insufficient arguments". I'm
not at all sure, as I am new to this, but this sounds like it could be the
culprit. Any suggestions relating to this or anything else I might need to
do to get started with Csound & CsoundQt would be very much appreciated.

Try typing:

which csound

To see which version of csound is being used. Also, besides
downloading the DMG, did you run the installer that comes with the DMG
prior to running Csound QT?

SubjectRe: Newbie using Mac OS X 10.12 Sierra & Csoundqt & Csound
that shows that you have a very old csound installed (6.01).
so csoundqt is right to tell you that the version is not correct.

once you downloaded the osx dmg file, you must first double click the
package. this will install csound. only then you can install and use
csoundqt.
