On my machine I had a version of libsndfile without flac. OnLinx machine with
version 25 it works OK.    Have trouble with version 29

So what version of libsndfile and what is output from ldd on the library?

I'm not sure how to determine the version number but here is how it is
listed on my machine:

/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libsndfile.so.1.0.27
/var/cache/apt/archives/libsndfile1_1.0.27-1_amd64.deb

I am running the latest Ubuntu (Kubuntu).

ldd /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libsndfile.so
