SubjectError message EOF

Hi,

I was working on an piece some months ago for a performance and

it worked flawlessly. It contains a number of included files, among them

one with defined macros. Last time I ran it it worked fine, but now I can't

compile and get the message:

define macro with args: unexpected EOF
cannot compile Orchestra

I reckon EOF stands for "end of file", but further than that I have no clue.
Can't find anything wrong in the macro file.

Hi Lars,

john announced in person on Csound30 that there was a bug in the macros and in version 6.08 it was fixed. Are you using that version of Csound?

Hello All,

For those who may be interested, I have just completed a new visual
music composition titled "Crystal Verse". Csound and Cmask were used to
create the music... Maya was used to create the visuals. Though this is
a link to a low-res stereo version, it is an 8-channel composition meant
for diffusion in a cuboid loudspeaker configuration.

I don't know if it's related but I found that included files that end with a commented line would cause trouble. It might be one of the things fixed for 6.08 - I haven't tried it lately.
Maybe you commented something out in one of the included files?

Anders

I originally set out to create a ~7 minute piece. But, as often happens,
the piece took on a life of its own and dictated the length... and
actually, I am not finished with the theme... there are more ideas. It
may perhaps be better suited as an installation rather than a concert piece.

I personally, enjoy extended length pieces. I love the complexity of the
form over time and enjoy listening or viewing a piece over many years in
order to apprehend all it includes.

I just this past weekend reviewed 4 works of mine that each were ~18
minutes in length... and I feel very good about them. In many ways I
feel they are my best work.

I realize that this is not necessarily a contemporary perspective but I
love pieces that are immersive both in space and also time.

Thank you for the question Andrea.

Thanks for this work, Michael. And thanks for sharing it.
I love the textures and the drama, it is like a story, a film, and I think the duration works well. The ending has a feeling to it that to me somehow concludes a long story or long journey.

Yes, sounds strange (not likely) that it should change behaviour if your Csound version is the same and the files have not changed since last time you ran it.
Just some feeble suggestions:
- check the Csound version number printed in the console when you run it, just to make sure you haven't upgraded and then forgotten
- check the date of all files you use to see that their date is older than when you last used it
If the csd does not need large soundfiles, you could also post it and some of us could test run on a more recent Csound version.
