Subject[OT] Learn to Code Electronic Music Tools with Javascript
Hi everyone,
A new course from Goldsmiths, University of London is given since yesterday on the Future Learn platform.
It is at least interesting from a developer perspective since it comes with a new javascript development platform coded by Goldsmiths.
In case you want to ask, I don't promote anything, I know them from a previous course on Processing.
Enjoy!

I've been doing it today.

Course is more or less what you'd expect from an introduction to
building synths in a "Music N" type language : here's an oscillator,
here's an envelope, here's a filter etc. Except it dives in with FM
from an LFO pretty early. And it's nicely done.

And, obviously, the impressive, new thing is that this is all written
in javascript and running in the browser ... which is handling it
surprisingly well.

I'm certainly looking forward to being able to publish interactive
pieces of music directly on web-pages.

You can do that with the PNaCl build of Csound right now, for the
Chrome browser.

Best,

Last time I tried the Csound in-browser stuff, they didn't really work all that well. This was about 1 to 2 months ago. I meant to bring it up but got distracted by other things.

Specifically, I'm referring to some examples Steven YI had up somewhere.

At some point when I have a moment I'll give them another shot.

Best,
AKJ

Is there any suggestion it will work in Firefox or is it only a Chrome
thing at the moment? (CSOUND in browser).

Hi,

Check out Csound Notebook by Steven Yi (http://csound-notebook.kunstmusik.com/ )

- if you use Emscripten version, it should work fine in Firefox

or Csound Emscripten demo:

http://eddyc.github.io/CsoundEmscripten/

Although I agree that pNacl in Chrome has better performance (but no audio input, I guess nor midi).
