Just read the Foreword by the late Jean-Claude Risset. He calls it the
most powerful computer music system. I have always felt that, but as a
user and contributor I have also always recognized my potential bias.
So I made it my practice to intermittently follow the development and
users of competing systems. But I have never had much reason to change
my evaluation, with the partial exception of Max and some of the
Haskell stuff.

Whenever I sit down to compose and the sounds start coming out of the
speakers, I always find myself saying out loud, "My God -- what an
instrument!"

I have just bought it at the discount price - there is a field on one of 
the pages for entering a "coupon" code - entering the code as posted 
earlier worked fine. My chance now to catch up on 10 years of Csound 
developments which have largely passed me by!

I spent eight hours and every penny i had to my name buying two prepaid Mastercard /Visa gift cards trying to buy this book, and for some reason it just wouldn't let me.  I have invoices from PayPal saying that a payment was sent,  but still no book.  Pretty bummed, as i was trying to buy myself a present for my birthday on Wednesday.

new visual music composition. The music was generated using Csound... 
Cmask was used to synthesize the score.

Glad the code worked out for those who managed to take advantage!
Unfortunately I think it was just for yesterday.  (I was travelling
and didn't have a chance to look to order any ebooks myself. Hopefully
there will be another opportunity to purchase at a discount again
soon; I'll certainly post anything if I hear anything!)

It didn't work out for me, and I still haven't received a reply from customer service from my now numerous emails,  but there are still pending transactions on my two paypal accounts, as well as a couple of other people's, so maybe there's still hope? Yeah, I don't really believe that for a second, but then I'm such a pessimist that a full moon looks completely empty to me,  so maybe it's just the auto darkening lenses I'm looking at the situation through.

Thanks Michael!  I enjoyed going through the video, though I can
imagine the experience much richer in 8 channels diffused over so many
more and in high-definition video. :)  Best wishes for the concert!

Just thought I should post an update here to note that about ten minutes ago i finally received a response from Springer,  and it seems like they are going to honour their end of the bargain. . . maybe.

Maya was used to create the scenes and then it was edited in Adobe 
Premier. No effects in Premier... just cutting and blending.

Very interesting stuff. It strikes me as being in the same vein as the final scene of "2001", but even more abstract...as if an alien intelligence were instructing me (without language) on how to create an artificial life-form. There's a not-altogether-unpleasant slightly unsettling quality to the sonic texture, too.

Unique...I enjoyed it!
