Thanks Victor for passing on the news. I found this memorial article regarding him and his life: http://next.liberation.fr/musique/2016/11/22/mort-du-compositeur-jean-claude-risset-pionnier-de-la-musique-electronique_1530103 I'm deeply saddened by his passing: what an amazing human being. His contributions to our greater culture and impact on our own Csound community were immeasurable. I loved his music and, in the few occasions I had to speak and be around him, was deeply inspired by his character, curiosity, and generosity. On Tue, Nov 22, 2016 at 11:12 AM, Victor Lazzarini |

He search for beauty in sound paved the way for a whole new understanding of how sounds work. An absolutely extraordinary talent, and as Steven said, such a humble and beautiful person to spend time with. I only met him once, but he really made a huge impact. I'm genuine saddened by his passing. On 22 November 2016 at 16:31, Steven Yi <stevenyi@gmail.com> wrote: Thanks Victor for passing on the news. I found this memorial article |

He will be missed. I feel fortunate that many of us got to meet him at the Csound conference in Boston. His harmonic arpeggio technique has become one of my core building blocks. - Dave On Tue, Nov 22, 2016 at 11:39 AM, Rory Walsh <rorywalsh@ear.ie> wrote:

Jean-Claude was such an amazing, inspiring, and generous person - a true mentor to all of us. I am so happy to have known him, and to have spent so many memorable times with him over the years... (often together with Max Mathews). Their friendship, and their incredible relationship was the foundation for the field in which we now all play. I am so sad to know that I will not see him again. It was such a pleasure to have him as one of the keynote speakers and honored guests at The Csound Conference we held at Berklee. Today, I am so happy to read his wonderful foreword to the amazing and brilliant new Csound Book by Victor, Steven, John, Iain, Oeyvind and Joachim. His instruments are a treasure. His music is an eternal gift. He and Max are together again. -dB On Tue, Nov 22, 2016 at 11:50 AM, Dave Seidel <dave.seidel@gmail.com> wrote:

My teacher Eugenio Giordani has always spoken to me of JC Risset like a big computer music; his theories have inspired many composers of electroacoustic music. I must publicly share, as Joachim wrote, my sadness for Jean-Claude Risset's passing away. Yes, he was a brilliant person, both musically and scientifically, yet a very human and modest person, who was also constantly interested in the work of the others, no matter how old or... young they were. And I had the pleasure to meet and talk to him regularly, since the 80s. The XXth century has gone...! Marco joachim heintz <jh@JOACHIMHEINTZ.DE> schrieb am 22:27 Dienstag, 22.November 2016:

I have never met him. But now I realize that his impact was quite prominent. I've spent many hours studying Amsterdam catalog of Csound instruments that is based on his work. The one of the instruments I've found there overtone (throat-singing like) instrument is still one of my favorite Csound instruments. It's simple yet very evocative. 2016-11-23 8:03 GMT+03:00 Marco Stroppa <00000088a9b41854-dmarc-request@listserv.heanet.ie>:
