A friend has let me borrow his RME UFX so that I can do some multichannel stuff for Cabbage on Linux. Only I can't get jack or alsa to recognise the card. I'm using the USB connection. Is anyone using one of these cards on Linux at present?

Hey Rory,
I've no experience with that card, but after reading the manual I see
you have to put it in Class-compliant mode in order to make it work on
Linux.
Have you read this already:
http://www.rme-audio.de/download/cc_mode_ufx_e.pdf ?
I assume lsusb detects it properly. Anything weird in the dmesg output?

I'm not entirely sure, but I believe the UFX will only work through FireWire on linux (using ffado drivers, not alsa) whereas the UCX would work using USB. I may very well be wrong though... Regards Anders

Ah, yes, I was wrong, it should likely work. At least someone seems to have gotten it up and running Regards, Anders

...and Regards, Anders (who have contemplated buying the UCX but who is now most indecisive...)

Thanks everyone. I'll try this tomorrow. I didn't spot the class compliant setting. Thanks again. On 11 Oct 2016 6:36 pm, "Anders Genell" <anders.genell@gmail.com> wrote:

Thanks everyone. The class compliant setting was key. Everything is working fine now. On 11 October 2016 at 18:49, Rory Walsh <rorywalsh@ear.ie> wrote:
