While we're talking re odd MIDI gadgetry (This was wonderful, by the way!!!) --- Has anybody found a CHEAP way to constuct (acquire etc) a breath-controller? "Crude" & "imprecise" I could maybe learn to deal with -- but sensitive at least in a useful range? On Wed, Jun 8, 2016 at 4:23 AM, Rory Walsh <rorywalsh@ear.ie> wrote:

[re cheap amateur breath controller] >blow across a mic and grab the envelop from the noise. Thanks! Singing into the thing was a bust, but this could be more useful! [More re breath-control] Doing this, one could take the notes from coded qwerty input -- and the velocities from that, wouldn't need a MIDI keyboard (but then, why not use it anyway... :>} )Yes, 'breathing across mic' and running the signal through Audacity there's a pretty wide range of intensities. You can make a cheap breath controller starting from an electret microphone capsule. If you would like a circuit diagram let me know I can sketch one up. Hi, I used a senistive air pressure sensor in a tube to be cotrolled by both inhaling and exhaling (negative pressure read) connected to arduino. One costed around 20eur. If you are interested, i can check out the tupe and model number. Tarmo 09.06.2016 10:45 kirjutas kuupäeval "Iain McCurdy" <i_mccurdy@hotmail.com>:

Well, I'm more likely to make something electrical if I can do it with wire-nuts; otherwise would need to borrow a soldering iron etc from someone I know hereabouts. These wouldn't be sensitive enough to be used as breath sensors, they need contact pressure. I. Okay... I guess not then. an old thrift-store microphone with the crackly screen removed, all secured in place. (Similar, in principle, to what you had in mind, without the need to wire things together? Or significantly less functional?)Meanwhile, I'm picking up a fairly steady amplitude from a (bass recorder) mouthpiece, tube, & On Fri, Jun 10, 2016 at 3:11 AM, Iain McCurdy <i_mccurdy@hotmail.com> wrote:
