Nice and trippy! I'll have to put aside some time to listen to it in its entirety. On 26 April 2016 at 11:54, Oeyvind Brandtsegg <oyvind.brandtsegg@ntnu.no> wrote: Thanks a lot :-) |

Thanks for sharing Oeyvind. This is great, you must be proud. Like Rory, I'll have to spend more time with the video, I've just skimmed through it for now. Had a watch of your video. It's a very unique sound you have, and I like it :D it's also fantastic to see such music made live Pete On Wed, Apr 27, 2016 at 9:43 AM, Iain McCurdy |

Thanks. And there's Csound all over. Also Maja's (vocals) digital setup is all Csound. It's an instrument I made for her 13 years ago and she's still using that as her main (only) sampler/effects. I find it immensely interesting that the instrument sounds completely different when she use it than what I had imagined when I made it. 2016-04-28 21:30 GMT+02:00 Peter Burgess |

That's excellent :D I want to ask a geeky question here... what hardware did you build the csound sampler/effects on? It was definitely before the RPi and such, so was it an old DSP chip? I'm not sure what I'll gain from your answer to that question, but it's something I'm quite interested in right now :) On Fri, Apr 29, 2016 at 8:27 AM, Oeyvind Brandtsegg |

;-) sorry to disappoint you, but Maja's instrument is just a csd running on a laptop, with a custom configuration for an external keyboard controller. Perhaps a bit unconventional for the time, we used the midi keys to control record/start/stop/overdub/reverse etc. Considering the available hardware platforms now, and the modest CPU usage by todays standards, it would probably run fine on an embedded device. My own setup is a collection of Cabbage plugins and also 5 instances of Hadron, all runnning in Reaper. I use Reaper's own EQ's and compressors, and a Valhalla reverb, all else is Csound. I used to need to run it on 2 computers to distribute the processing load, but now with 64 bit Csound, many of the effects are much more CPU efficient and I've managed to pack it all into one computer. For external control, I have a Lemur, Peavey midi faderbox, two Novation LaunchControls, a simple midi keyboard, and a Marimba Lumina. I've also become fond of using a small wooden box with a contact mike as an exciter for physical models and resonators (like you can see in the beginning of our set in the video, where I use the contact mike box to excite mode filters tuned to the strongest partials in the vocal signal). 2016-04-29 11:49 GMT+02:00 Peter Burgess |

Ah right, hahahaha, didn't occur to me that you might just be talking about software :) That exciter box is a great idea. A very nice solution far a live controller for the physical model system! On Fri, Apr 29, 2016 at 12:43 PM, Oeyvind Brandtsegg |
