[OT] Mathews and UNIX

Subject[OT] Mathews and UNIX
Not surely this is widely known, but Max Mathews, besides being the father of Computer Music, was directly responsible
for the development of UNIX by agreeing
to buy a PDP11 for Thompson's team,
which had been turned down by their
direct manager. Without this machine,
maybe there would not have been a UNIX.

Interesting stuff.

Max Mathews was so supportive of so many.  I am blessed to have been one of a long list of people who were able to realize their potential because of him.  And do note... how we have all followed his "giving and sharing" example.  A true mentor, who taught us all how to give - by example.  Miss him so much. Blessed to have known him.  Dr.B.
