Subject: [Old-Csnd] Minor issue with Csound for Android

This weekend I installed Csound 6.07 beta from Google Play, which I'd
previously installed manually (thanks, Mike!) and I'm noticing a minor oddity.
I'm running on a Google Nexus 7 tablet (v2) running Android 6.0.1.
When I start the Csound app, the "Do not disturb" setting is activated, and it
is set to "Alarms only" (the other available settings are "Total silence" and
"Priority only"). DND is not deactivated when Csound exits. I have not see
this behavior with any other apps, but it is so far 100% reproducible with
Csound.

This is not a big deal, but probably worth a quick look since it may be an
unintended result.

- Dave

P.S. I'm planning on using the app to perform my realtime generative piece
"Threefold Soliloquy" in its intended context, which is to accompany a
production of Samuel Beckett's PLAY. Works great. Also, DroidEdit makes an
excellent companion app.

Sorry John, I think now I've finally purged the old lists from my Gmail contacts.

I have no idea why this setting is changed by the app. Might have
something to do with the audio driver code. I'll look at that.

Mike

I'd definitely like that as a feature - if I am using csound I don't want audible alerts from other apps (I may have the volume up for a quiet instrument, or regardless I don't want alert sounds interfering with my composition process).

That's a good point. But it should probably be a setting under the user's control. and it would be polite to revert the setting change when the Csound app exits -- if it does. Even better, maybe just change the DND state when the CSD is running and revert when the performance stops.
