Subjectcsound.github.io : new site
Hi All,

Eugene Cherny, Bernt Isak, Rory Walsh, and I have been working
together on a new version of the csound.github.io site. I have
published the new version of the site and it is now live:

http://csound.github.io/
http://csound.com

The site features a new visual design and adds new information
designed to help guide new users learn more about Csound, its
community, and its capabilities. The work to update and refresh the
site was born out of the discussion at the past Csound Conference.

For those unaware of the site, it is an open-source website and its
code is hosted at:

https://github.com/csound/csound.github.io

Anyone can make a copy of the site, make changes, and submit pull
requests to have the changes merged and made a part of the site.
Contributions can be be done not only by those familiar with web site
development, but also by anyone by filing an issue in the issue
tracker:

https://github.com/csound/csound.github.io/issues

For those wondering how they might contribute, you might consider:

* Submitting a news entry for any Csound-related work (i.e. new iOS
software, new version of Csound-based library, concerts featuring
csound work, etc.)
* Add your music to the Csound group on SoundCloud, which in turn
auto-posts to the playlist at http://csound.github.io/listen.html
* Submit a project to the new projects list at
http://csound.github.io/projects.html
* Report any incorrect or outdated information
* Make suggestions for the site on the issue tracker

This new version has many of the changes we targeted for an initial
release of the site. New changes will be done directly in the master
branch of the site's codebase and published on a rolling basis. We
encourage everyone to review the site and we welcome feedback on ways
to improve the site to better serve the community.

All best and happy holidays!
steven

I think you just go there and, if you're logged in, select tracks of

thanks and congrats, this looks nice!

i would like to make some small corrections and additions (for instance,
re-establish the "report a bug" link). i have git access, but i cannot
see how to do this now. before it was easy: just changing the .md
files. what is it now?

cheers -

All best and happy holidays!
steven

Hi Joachim,

The pages are still mostly in the .md files. I don't remember the
report a bug link's location, but if it is on a template, it would be
done within one of the pages in the _layouts folder.

Thanks!

ok, i think i understand now, and modified the "base.html" a bit, to
make it easier to find the place for bug reports.

should we perhaps have the "contribute" also in the main menu (between
"community" and "download")? although it's still empty, it is a very
good idea and can be filled later. currently it is a bit hidden, at the
footer.

Congratulations and THANKS for all the great work.
Thanks for this beautiful contribution to Csound and to all of us.
I have pointed csounds.com and csound.org to it and I hope
that whenever anyone queries the internet for Csound, that they
are directed to this new home that you have created for the entire
community.  Thanks so much.

Hi Dr. B,

Thanks! I can not take too much credit for the site though, it's
really been a lot of work from Eugene, Bernt, and Rory that made it so
nice. And of course, the work on csounds.com has supported this
community for many, many years. There's still a bit of work to do on
the new site, but we'll get there soon enough.

Thanks again!
