	Just a thought; how many streams can one open in OSX with fopen? Are you hitting a limit? 	Just a thought, from your console print it looks like the error happens only with instr 3, and the file loads fine with instr 5. Is it just a coincidence due to the specific section of the console print that you copied to the email, or could there be some small difference in the code for instr 3 and instr 5 that makes the error happen?
