Subject: utility 'pvanal' not found
I've recently upgraded to Yosemite (10.10.3) and reinstalled CSoundQT. I'm
now getting the error

utility 'pvanal' not found

I've tried
1. combing the forums, but only found help for the built version
2. downloading the latest nightly build of CSoundQT

Is anyone else having this problem?
ANY help at all appreciated.

Hi,

Not sure why this could be...

CsoundQt can use the API or not for using the utilities, there is a preference in the preferences dialog, maybe switching to the other option might solve the problem? Maybe utilities should always be run through the API?
(My only worry is that utilities have traditionally been somewhat crash prone, so they would bring down CsoundQt...)

How are utilities currently being distributed on OS X? Maybe they are not in the default path?

Cheers,
Andrés

Utility frontends are in /usr/local/bin, but they are actually plugins to the library. Csound -U should load them if the opcodedir is correct.

Another thing to try is to install the latest Csound release (6.06) from Sourceforge

I seem to remember /usr/local/bin is not in the default path on OS X, maybe that is the issue?

But for Csound, I think the default might be to use the API.
