I think you can remove the question mark from the subject header Dave! Thanks for sharing! I hear Iain Honk instrument in there in the second movement! It's such an interesting instrument. On 11 October 2015 at 17:28, Dave Phillips <dlphillips@woh.rr.com> wrote: Greetings, |

Thanks for sharing! I enjoy the subtle sound structures a lot. Mostly the first and the third movements. When listening to this piece I feel like I'm a light beam(ray) that travels to the center of a crystal. Dave, thanks for sharing... If be interested in reading about how you went about creating this. Maybe if you've got a blog... Just wondering if this is composed, improvised, or both... Or? Mike

Hi Mike, The tracks are simple MIDI sequences triggering the Cabbage instruments. Here's a section-by-section breakdown: Part 1: The first sound is the Wood Block from the Rubbed Resonators. Yep, it sounds like an organ here. The melodic material is a combination of the Bar Model synth's Soft Sustain and the Wavetable Synth's Bass Flute. No added processing. Incidentally, all the basic harmonic/melodic material was scrounged from the intro to a piano piece I wrote long ago. It wasn't very good anyway. :) Part 2. The FM Clang plugin provides the bell/gong-type sound, the honkin' sax is from the Honk instrument (of course), and the feedback noise is from the String Feedback Synth. The MIDI sequence is not the same as the actual notes heard, i.e. the Honk and Feedback instruments just receive the trigger and apparently respond with random notes/sound. This section is processed by the multiReverb plugin. Part 3. The dull pluck/bell is the Harmonics synth, the brighter bells are produced by the Inharmonic Additive Synth's Wine Glass patch, and the "bass guitar" is from the Bass Guitar plugin (surprise!). No added processing except for the use of MVerb's Stadium reverb on the bass. Again, the basic harmonic/melodic material is from the same fragment used in the previous sections. Everything was composed (no improv or live playing) and manually entered into the sequencer (Bitwig for Linux). And a big Thank You to everyone who responded, I'm happy you've enjoyed the dish. :) Best, dp

I forgot to mention that the sustained chord at the end of this section brings back the instruments from the first, this time each one playing a single tone in a 3-note chord. The bell sounds are absent during that ending. Best, dp |

Thanks for the rundown, this kind of info is a great resource to look into the possibilities of the instruments. It would be nice if it could be distributed together with the music as a demo both of Csound and Cabbage. Like the demo songs commonly distributed with commercial DAWs. 14. okt. 2015 11.03 skrev "Dave Phillips" <dlphillips@woh.rr.com>:
