Hi, Since there has been no reaction (almost), I repost. Please let me know - i need to prepare somewhat. Tarmo ----------- Hi, would you like to take part in the Csound Conference but you cannot come? There will be one interactive Csound performance where you can participate over internet from your home or anywhere with decent internet connection. It is called "Brain game". Three performers (Dr. Boulanger, Steven Yi and Joachim Heintz kindlly agreed to take that role) on spot will wear brainwave sensors, probably me and Gleb heart-rate sensors and the data can be used in any way for a kind of live coding Csound performance - the Csounders may send their csound isntruments (better if I have one version beforehand) that use the cannels of the sensor data to a Csound server running in my computer on spot. The code compiled runtime, displayed on the wall as a chat, the result played back to the public on spot and streamed to the participants via low latency Jamulus streaming system. I attach more detailed descripto to the e-mail and it is up also on http://tarmo.uuu.ee/varia/failid/cs/nacl/insructions-cs-conference.html The performance is planned for Fr 2.10 around 18.15 (St. Petersburg, GMT +3). We are all glad if you can come and join and make music together! To participate: 1) let me know 2) write an initial instrument that uses the sensor data channels (see instructions http://tarmo.uuu.ee/varia/failid/cs/nacl/insructions-cs-conference.html and send it to me - I attach a csd with some sample instruments and a sensor emulator instrumen - you can try it out your intrument and possible changes best in CsoundQt where you can select an evaluate your code in runtime (Alt-E) 3) have a look at the user interface via you can send live code to the server during performance: http://tarmo.uuu.ee/varia/failid/cs/nacl/braingame.html (it looks bad but works) you need Google chrome to hear your Csound changes locally 4) download and install Jamulus software http://llcon.sourceforge.net/index.html for audio feedback I will try to put up a testing server where you can try out the system hopefully next week. 5) be ready for the live performance 2.10 around 18.15 (GMT +3) I think we should try to do a test performence somewhere in the middle of next week (29.09 or 30.09). I hope I was not too vague, please ask questions if there was something very unclear! Thanks! Tarmo |

Good, well, not enough time but soo interesting that I will burn some midnight oil on this and following the "enjoy, copy, re-mix and share" method hack together a granular synth for this. I am researching turning motion (android accelerometers) into sound but used PD for this but probably I can achieve similar effect but simplified but hacking an existing csound instrument. So, Ill do my best but many things in the physical world also need my attention. later... Honza On Fri, Sep 25, 2015 at 7:56 PM Tarmo Johannes <tarmo.johannes@otsakool.edu.ee> wrote:

Great, Tgoot to hear!
gkDensity init 0.005 gkDensity init 0.01 etc
while the instrument is playind - this is one of the easiest ways how to interact in the llive performance.
Or of course you can use p-fields and just send lines like schedule "yourinstrument",0, 5,10,12,0.001 ; or wahtever you want to put into the parameters. So the instrumentn wil play for definite time with given parameters.

Hi,
For the Brain-game event, here are some instructions, how to take part:
1) open page http://tarmo.uuu.ee/varia/failid/cs/nacl/braingame.html in Google Chrome (you can use also other browsers but then you cannot use the Csound pnacl module to try things out and hear them in your own machine)
2) copy there or write you code you want to send to the Csound server to be compiled (The server is my computer in St. Peterburg and the server will run on the time of performance, I hope also before to test things)
3) if you want to try out your stuff and changes locally (using Google Chrome), clcik "Start engine" at first, then use Buttons "Compile all" or "Compile selection" to hear them locally
4) Check if your page is connected to the my Csound server - the connection should take place automatically on load. If the "Connect" button is greyed out, eveything is fine. You can try to Connect again, if the conenction loses.
5) to send a code to server to be compiled, select a text and press "Send selection to server". It will be compiled and the result heard in St. Peterburg.
5) To hear everybody: - start Jamulus (see http://llcon.sourceforge.net/index.html ). You must have jackd running at sr 48000 to connect. - please enter you name and location in "My profile" - press Connect, Let's use Melusive sever (Odensee), since it is closest to St. Petersburg - in the main window you should see all users, also me (Tarmo). turn the outputfader of all others down and mine up - you should hear with very small latency what is going ot in St. Petersburg.
Of course, those people in St. Peterburg can take part also on spot. Then naturally you don't nee Jamulus, since you hear the sound from speakers :)
You can send as simple instruments as
instr simple krate chnget "heart1" krate port krate,0.1, chnget:i("heart1") kattention chnget "attention1" kattention port kattention,0.25, chnget:i("attention1") aenv linenr 0.1,0.1,0.5,0.001 asig poscil aenv, krate ; play a tone on the frequency of the heartrate aL, aR pan2 asig, kattention ; pan according to attention outs aL, aR endin
or even simple and then send lines like
schedule "simple",0,2
Since the sensor values are changing, the result will be different every time.
Unfortunately I will not have time to make any try-out with you before. I try to put up the system on spot on the performance day (2.10) before, so you can test and experiment.
The performance takes place Fr 2.10 around 18.15 (GMT +3)
Thanks! tarmo

Hi, on my way to St. PeterburgI I updated slightly the web interface (there is wifi in the coach) Now it is more convenient to send messages to other users (when the server is running) and the code area should store your code in localstorage so you can continue working with your code also after reload. Hope to connect with you tomorrow! tarmo 2015-09-30 11:04 GMT+03:00 Tarmo Johannes <tarmo.johannes@otsakool.edu.ee>:

i'm going to be at work during this. i
will try to get a break for the performance which i calculate to
be at 11:15am EDT. if for whatever reason i miss it, i submit
this pair of instrs, following the guidelines of the sample code.
