Cabbage Troubles

Hello Rory (and everyone else), Normally I'd ask at thecabbagefoundation.org first, but I haven't been able to reach it for a few days. I'm not sure if it's down, or if there's just issues with the hotel network while I'm traveling... I was looking forward to trying the new Cabbage version... but it fails for me. I always seem to have trouble with new versions... last time you had made a few tries at making me a pre-release, and I still never got it working either. Originally I had csound installed via homebrew, but just in case that was the problem I uninstalled it and reinstalled the newest csound 6.05 universal package. Csound is working from a console as expected, the new cabbage app (run from a download location, *NOT* in /Applications) errors out with: $ ./Cabbage.app/Contents/MacOS/Cabbage Segmentation fault: 11 Any suggestions? Can you try the one I uploaded just a few hours ago under the latest releases on the github site? I'm working on the OSX package a bit at the moment, and it now ships with its own version of Csound. Therefore it shouldn't matter what version you have there yourself. Some 10.9 users had some issues with it until I changed some of the build settings. I have set the deployment target to 10.7 so hopefully it will work. Fingers crossed. If it doesn't let me know. If doesn't, em, let me know too! I will sort it out way or the other. p.s. we are working on a new site, but I thought the forums were still active. I'll need to check it out. Ok. Then it's most likely due to my build settings. I'm going to mark that one as 10.10 and tomorrow I'll take a look at preparing a 10.7 version. I hope you don't mind being the guinea pig on this one. On 23 September 2015 at 22:15, Kevin Welsh <tgrey1@gmail.com> wrote: That's the one I tried, brand new. The zip's md5: |

I don't mind at all, I'm excited to get a working version with all of the new features, particular the meter stuff we had discussed quite a while back! What's wrong with the forum website by the way? I get a DNS resolution error both on my mobile device and the hotel wireless. Is it working ok for you? On Wed, Sep 23, 2015 at 5:18 PM, Rory Walsh |

We are changing host provider but the forum shouldn't have gone. I'll get back to you tomorrow with a new package. Watch this space! On 23 September 2015 at 22:49, Kevin Welsh <tgrey1@gmail.com> wrote: I don't mind at all, I'm excited to get a working version with all of |

Thanks Stéphane. I've uploaded a new, and working version for OSX. Btw, this will probably be the last release of Cabbage :( Because I'm about to release Cabbage Studio :) It has all the wonder of cabbage, in a tantalised new gourmet dressing. Yummy. But Dave, you've already had a taste! A propos, MIDI-learn has been updated with a dialogue for editing/deleting mappings. On 24 September 2015 at 12:33, Dave Phillips <dlphillips@woh.rr.com> wrote:

It does add some sugar to your music, but this can be disabled in the options menu :) On 24 September 2015 at 13:41, Victor Lazzarini <Victor.Lazzarini@nuim.ie> wrote:

I hope you plan to make a .deb package for it someday. I've tried to build it for ubuntu without luck. 2015-09-24 15:50 GMT+03:00 Rory Walsh <rorywalsh@ear.ie>:

What were the problems with Ubuntu? That's where I do all my dev work from. Hit me off list if you need some help getting set up. It should be pretty straight forward. On 24 September 2015 at 18:22, Anton Kholomiov <anton.kholomiov@gmail.com> wrote:

You have hard-coded paths to csound libs and to VST in the make files. The instruction on passing the flags is also wrong (you describe the cmake like routine but with make files it's different). It's wrong and actually don't works since the paths are hardcoded. I need to have the same file system layout as you to build it. also It requires brand new csound to be installed. I can not compile csound from sources and don't want to do it. Your library is probably a very cool thing but it was pain trying to install (I'm not a cpp user I have to admit, maybe knowledge of some obvious things can help).I wish it was more non cpp/c user friendly. I'm sorry to hear you had such troubles building. I've updated the scripts involved so that you can pass custom paths to the build script. You don't need the very latest version of Csound, nor do you have to build it yourself, but you do need a version above 6.03 if I recall correctly. It was at that point that Victor added some extra functions for working with tables. Rory.On 25 September 2015 at 07:57, Anton Kholomiov <anton.kholomiov@gmail.com> wrote:

I'll continue to to ship it alongside any newer versions. The code base is essentially the same, so any updates made to the new system will automatically be built into the older system. But I'd rather not add any crazy new features to the single instrument host that launches on startup. On 25 September 2015 at 09:55, Iain McCurdy <i_mccurdy@hotmail.com> wrote:
