Hi All, For those using csound~, I have a question. I was working on a zip release of csound~ so that users can install csound~ wherever they like. However, I found no way to get the Examples to show up in Max 7's Help->Examples menu without placing the examples in /Users/Shared/Max 7/Examples/csound~. Does anyone know of a way to get examples to show up in that menu just by putting a directory on Max's path? It seems useful to have the examples in that menu. If there isn't a way to do it otherwise, I'm going to abandon the zip release idea and just leave the existing installer stuff in place. steven ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ _______________________________________________ Csound-users mailing list Csound-users@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/csound-users Send bugs reports to https://github.com/csound/csound/issues Discussions of bugs and features can be posted here |

any advantage/disatvantage to distributing both versions? .zip and .pkg i do like that the installer exists - and that it installs things in the "right" place, but... there have been times where it has been very helpful to have access to all the "pieces" of csound~ and be able to put there where I needed/wanted.

Well I'd rather just have one release per-platform as it's one less thing to worry about supporting. I can modify the existing installer script to build a zip as well and release the two; the zip should probably then have instructions in a README that explains what to do. Sidenote: I've long found work on csound~ to take up time I'd rather not spend on it. It's been not good for me, and I imagine someone who actually uses csound~ and who has more time would better support it. (The only reason I stepped in to work on it was that no one else had and it had gone unsupported.) I'm looking for someone to volunteer taking over maintenance of csound~. I'm happy to walk through someone on building and developing it on OSX and Windows, and what scripts to use for the automated build/releases (at least, what I've been doing; you're welcome to adjust and improve the workflow as you wish). If you're interested, please contact me offlist. Otherwise, I will no longer be maintaining csound~ after the next csound release. On Mon, Jul 27, 2015 at 2:03 PM, Dr. Richard Boulanger |
