Not sure when the 4004 chip came out, but I was dabbling and
experimenting with it and digital circuitry (including a magnetic
memory core), between 1972-1974. Back then, it wasn't 8-bit words,
it was computing with 4-bit "nibbles".

hi,
today YLE (NBC) showed an old short film (1971) of DIMI, Erkki
Kurenniemi's synthesizer. Just watched it from the net. There's no
mention of not being able to watch it outside Finland, so go ahead and try.
Here's the link: http://areena.yle.fi/1-2659012?autoplay=true
DIMI is said to be a computer, but 1971 it was probably really analog,
very unlikely to be a computer. Was 4004 Intel chip even invented that time?
