that's correct, because  a 0 handle will not
find the buffer. I'll add a check to exit
more gracefully.

SubjectRe: simple pvsbuffer example - segment violation
Just when I think I understand all this something else pops up. You say 
that the code below doesn't work because of a 0 handle but how can you 
tell that khan is 0 from the code below? I'm sure that all handles are 
valid in the instrument I posted? Maybe not? If so can you explain why? 
  I'm going to rebuild with your fixes now. Cheers,
