Has anyone yet checked to see - in the Windows installers - whether the
spurious Python warnings are gone?

Hi Art,

I am not sure what Python errors you are talking about as I have not been
following this thread, however, if it is pertinent, I just installed 5.07
last night on a WinXP machine. It was not happy until I installed Python 2.5
in the root directory of the C:\ drive. Everything worked fine for me after
that although I only tested the Varga GUI version. I previously had Python
version 2.4 installed, which I uninstalled before installing 2.5.

Hope this helps.

SubjectCsound 5.07 and python...
I just downloaded the latest release and the installer does ask you if
you want to install Python so things have improved. My only problem now
is that if one chooses no to the 'install python' option and runs
through the rest of the setup they will still get the same annoying
messages as before. Mike do you think you could possibly add a little
text stated that if one chooses no to installing python they may have to
incur the wrath of the dreaded python 2.5 popup, perhaps something as
explicit as 'choosing no to installing python will cause serious mental
breakdown!'..

Rory.

I just went through the installer again and this time clicked install
python. Unfortunately I still get the same errors as before about python
not being installed. The installer does download python 2.5 to my temp
folder but it seems to be down to the user to install it manually? I'm
sure this is not what's intended, hopefully it's a quick fix to have it
launch automatically once it's downloaded. Cheers,

Rory.
