I am wondering whether this is a general feeling or
something more to do with the Windows platforms. Linux
users seem happy enough.

As far as I am concerned, I am committed to try and fix
any OSX installation issues that might arise.

IMHO, Linux users are more "computer literate". They are used to more
complex installation procedures such as building source code, working
from the command line, etc. An "average musician" (apologies for the
gross generalisation!) is much more likely to be a Windows user and not
familiar with such things.

Cheers,

Chris

P.S. Linux users are also more used to software not working properly and
having to figure out how to fix it themselves :-) )

SubjectRe: 4.23 Manual
Hi Chris,

I am a Systems Administrator by day and work with many various flavors of
Linux, and Unix, including OSX, as well as Windows every day. In general, I
would agree with you in your assessment but it is a wide world out there
with many flavors of composers/people. For whatever reason, I prefer not to
work from command line when composing and especially not DOS. I have done it
and if the project calls for it I will again but I have established an
intuitive and consistent way of working with my Windows machine. (Win2K,
BTW) This is primarily for the VB-A macro aspects of Excel (restricting me
to Windows) and the MOTU 2408 I use for monitoring (restricting me from
Linux).
