Thanks for this information, David.

I would hope then that the standard or default distributions for OSX would
be compiled using the single thread. Also, it would be a good idea to have
this info available for those intent on "rolling their own" OSX versions.

They are.  FLTK works OK in the binary distributions.

i can't get FLTK to work using csound API on OSX
- it either crashes or takes removes my application's menu bar.

I have it working on the OSX Csound 5 GUI. (Of course, command-line
works as well).
