Had a chance to look at your screen shot. You did not specify an orc or sco file in your Csound command line (the "Settings" tab, "Classic Csound command line" field).

Hi Mike, thanks for the reply!

Iv been using Csound VST, and trying to run the a few examples from chapter 1 or the Csound book. Nothing complicated, just rendering these files. In Winsound (as you know) its just a matter of opening the orc and sco files, specifying an output file and hitting render.

With Csound VST, I am doing the very same thing, ie opening the orc / sco and hitting 'perform', yet nothing seems to happening. Check out the attached image - a printscreen showing the 'message' window.

This seems like some simple so Im not sure why it is playing me up. But maybe I am just being dense (it wouldnt be the first time, lol).

Either:

Open a .csd file and click on Perform

Or:

Open an .sco file, Import a .orc file, enter your command line by hand, and click 'Perform'.

In both cases, the command line must be fixed up so that it begins with 'csound' and specifies both .orc and .sco, that is, the usual .csd syntax does not apply in CsoundVST.

For example:

'csound -RWdo mysoundfile myorc.orc mysco.sco'

Hope this helps,
Mike

Had to install Python first but now I can open the Csound VST interface along with orc, sco and csd files.

I take it I am missing something crucial, lol. Obviously I checked the documentation, but there doesnt seem to be a complete CS 5 noob section ;)
