| I'm happy to see that the Csound5beta installer handles the PATH and
environment variables for XP automatically - no user intervention normally
required. One of the reasons why installers are so important for beginners.
Thanks, Dave, for reminding me of the "new XP way" of dealing with PATH and
environment (I'd read that somewhere - probably on this list - and
forgotten). Since the installer deals with these items automatically, it is
perhaps not crucial that detailed instructions appear in the reference
manual - though it might be a helpful addition to the *readme* file in the
distribution (which, as it stands, only refers you back to the general
statement in the manual).
My strong suggestion still remains to move the "offending" 4 DLL's somewhere
else to avoid the "error" popups. (Another item to be added to the "anything
to make Csound less difficult and confusing for beginners" category.
(And I'm not really that much of a beginner . . . though often I feel like
one.)
