| "Zipper noise" can occur in digital audio, when there is quick volume changes.
In hardware, a failing digital potentiometer and or a failing bypass filter
capacitor that allows noise to modulate on top of the volume curve. Still see
this in digital potentiometer IC chip circuits from time to time.
A very annoying sound. Might be experiencing the digital equivalent.
Maybe some sort clash of sample and control rates?

Subject: [Csnd] HRTF opcodes and zipping despite no warnings and highest settings
Date: Thu, 6 Jun 2019 11:11:57 +0200
Hey hey,
I get some kind of zipping or crackling noise using hrtfearly and hrtfreverb
despite using an ifade (fade size) of 1, ksmps of 1 and a samplerate of 48kHz.
Also, with these settings I get no more warnings about possible artefacts due
to my trajectory. The trajectory in question is an ellpise in the x-y plane
and a slow sine patter up and down the z-axis. The signal does not get closer
to the boundaries of the defined room than one metre. The movement should be
slow enough as well. I'm sure I have moved signals faster than that before.
Any ideas what it might be or where I might tune the orchestra?
Best wishes,
Jeanette
