JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the CTO, The Director of Software Engineering's charter is to build and grow an organization that can continue to build award-winning audio PC/ MAC applications. This Director will build an execution-oriented development culture based on disciplined software development processes and methodologies. Director will take over a development team that has successfully delivered product and is executing against plan.

Lead and grow the software engineering organization, building a highly professional and motivated group. Deliver product with consistent high quality and reliability, in a timely and predictable manner. Must have the flexibility to address dynamic market and customer needs with rapid turnaround time. Can put in place "best practices" for the software development that will build high-performing audio PC products in a timely, predictable and repeatable manner. Manage and mentor the software team.

Proven ability to recruit and retain world-class software developers and managers using strong teambuilding skills. Excellent managerial skills and interpersonal skills; effectively communicates and collaborates with product development, test and hardware engineering. Reputation for creating and leading a high performance culture; a high-energy individual who can motivate and energize others. Strong understanding of engineering software processes, life-cycle methodology, configuration management, release management, and system verification and test. A high performer, problem-solving executive with strong leadership skills who instills confidence in his/her team. Ideal candidate has successfully developed products in a managerial capacity, brought them to market and managed on-going maintenance and upgrade releases.

Qualifications, Experience, Education
 
Minimum education: BS engineering/computer science or 4-year college degree relevant to the engineering management profession (Business Administration). Postgraduate degrees helpful.

Minimum 8 years of direct experience in applications or device driver development including experience with project base lining, and tracking.

Extensive hands on experience in successfully managing and executing cross-functional strategic projects.

Must have experience in a team environment leading and/or managing a development team.

Demonstrated ability to incorporate new technology and methodologies.

Understanding and use of the Project Management Institute approach to project management.

Long-term focus-visionary able to see the end result.

Ability to create an open environment conducive to freely sharing information and ideas.

Cost accounting and budgeting.

Ability to use a variety of personal computer software to provide professional documents and/or prepare presentation media to executive audiences.

IDEAL TECHNICAL PROFILE: Experience with music industry related product development. Experience with the technologies and architectural decisions required to build a robust and highly scalable PC and MAC-based audio applications. Industry experience delivering successful licensed software to market. Proven record of applying rigorous methodologies for software development that ensures quality and performance and predictable delivery to market. Specific company experience would be "learned best practices" in a larger company ($100M+) and then successfully adapted these practices in start-up/smaller company entrepreneurial environment. High-level understanding of technical concepts. Extensive direct design experience of Software, Firmware, Digital Electronic.

Skills Required

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE IN THE FOLLOWING TECHNOLOGIES ARE REQUIRED: - Good understanding of Windows and Macintosh systems from a development perspective - Good understanding of C/C++ development and design processes. - Good knowledge of object oriented design and implementation techniques. - Knowledge of Perl, Java and JavaScript. - Experience using *nix development tools for source code management.

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE IN THE FOLLOWING TECHNOLOGIES ARE HIGHLY DESIRED:

Experience with Web technologies and web connected applications.
Experience with development tools for source code control, bug tracking, and project management
