| In principle yes, in practice it depends on whether they also affect the
MinGW or Windows compilation. I would say sure, remove them ** IF THEY ARE __ONLY__ FOR CYGWIN ** and we'll fix
any #ifdef problems. If they are not ONLY for Cygwin then obviously the MSVC/MinGW #ifdef should remain.
