Thanks a lot for the responses!
I tried my test.orc on Anthony's double-precision Csound 4.23: No
noise!!! the sound fades smooth and clear. After that, I rendered with
single precision...the noise was there again.
Ma++'s Version: Noise using butterhp, 32 bit perf (sr 48 khz)
4.23f12(Antony's Version): Noise using butterhp if used with 32 bit
perf (sr 44,1 khz)
4.23f12(Antony's Version): Clear sound using butterhp if used with 64
bit perf (sr 44,1 khz)
On Win-Versions of Csound there has always been reported clear sound,
so far.
Are there any ideas what the origin of the noise could be?
All the best
Jan Jacob

I'm glad that the Mills Perf64 worked for you! Different CPUs can give different results for floating-point operations. Perhaps this is a difference between PowerPC and Pentium architectures. Although, it may still be a bug in the butterhp code that only shows up on PPC for some reason. *shrug* Anthony Jan Jacob Hofmann wrote on 10/17/05 2:02 PM: > Thanks a lot for the responses! > I tried my test.orc on Anthony's double-precision Csound 4.23: No > noise!!! the sound fades smooth and clear. > On Win-Versions of Csound there has always been reported clear sound, > so far. > > Are there any ideas what the origin of the noise could be? |
