Any reason not to build csound5? It is better (and quite stable on Linux).

You can either download sources from CVS:

cvs -z9 -d :pserver:anonymous@cvs.sf.net:/cvsroot/csound checkout -P csound5

or, without using CVS, somewhat older source code is included with this
package:
