The screenshot in question was run with the following commandline:

localhost:~$ csound -odac:0 stdervish.csd

the line "-+rtaudio=CoreAudio" lives in my .csoundrc file, so if it 
does not live there on a user's system, then it would need to be 
specified via the commandline. A user could also presumably set the 
real time audio output to be using the PortAudio module.

I did not specify -b or -B so whatever the "reasonable defaults" for 
these are (1024 now?)

Yes the PortMIDI module was working nicely, however this test was not 
the one reflected in the screenshot.

I saw CoreAudio being selected; and maybe -odac:0 as well as
(?) -b256 -B1024???

2) Did you try MIDI? Did it work?
