Subject[Csnd] The 2nd International Csound Conference - Registration and Submission - Now Open
Dear Csounders,

And please help me to spread the word:

Registration and Submission Guidlines/Deadlines are now open
for The 2nd International Csound Conference @ Berklee in Boston

We are planning:
- major "public" concerts on Friday and Saturday night.
- major "conference" concerts on Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
- The Max Mathew Memorial event on Friday morning after the Risset Keynote
- Workshops, Panels, Demos, Poster Sessions throughout the day on Friday,
Saturday and Sunday
- A "closing" concert late Sunday afternoon
- A few "late-night" reMix events.
- A Berklee Csounders - Pre-Conference Concert on Thursday night (if you arrive early!)

We hope to present as many of you and as much of your work as time permits
and we are working hard to get the spaces we need to take advantage of every minute.

We are also trying to make time to just "hang" a bit, to catch up, and cook up some new projects and collaborations.

To that end there will be breakfasts, lunches, receptions, etc.

Not sure yet about having Boston Baked Beans on one of the evening menus.  Clearly
it would lead to an interesting "interactive" concert - but the Csound component might
be lacking somewhat.

All joking aside.

We hope that you will all come to Boston in October and join us for this amazing event.
We are doing our best to make it an awesome and inspiring time for all.  With your submissions.  With you in the audience.  With you presenting your work... it will be!

I thought I wouldn't be able to make it, but it turns out that I can. Registered.

Hi Dr. B,

I went to look at registration and submissions and had some questions:

- When does the "Early Registration Discount" end?

- When I got so select submission types for things like "Workshop",
"Seminar", or "Panel", they all reveal a section entitled "INFORMATION
ABOUT YOUR PIECE". However, there's no place there really to write
any kind of information about the prosed workshop, etc.

- Is there a way to do a submission with multiple authors?

- There doesn't seem to be any submission options for "Paper". At the
first conference, it seemed the format had a lot of papers, and those
eventually were collected into a proceedings (with many great cheers
to Joachim for organizing!). WIll there be papers accepted for this
conference? If so, is there a recommended type of submission to use
for that?

Thanks!
steven

Steven, for the Csound6 app paper I'm assuming first slides (LaTeX beamer format as you have seen me use), then maybe a paper if proceedings materialize and format is clarified.

Best,
Mike

BTW, Marc Demers reports he's using the app on his phone...

Hi Dr. B and all,

Are there any updates on the Csound Conference? I'm still wondering
about these questions.

Thanks!

Hi Steven,

I apologize for the delay, I thought I had replied to this previously but I
guess I must have lost track of the post among many tabs one day. In
response to your questions you posted:

- The Early-Bird Discount for Registering ends on September 3rd, after that
point, registration will be full price.

- The information for the proposed piece can be described in the artistic
statement block which is to the right of the Required Information column.

- If you are looking for a piece to submit that has multiple authors, please
specific this within the Artistic Statement block as well. But I feel that
is unclear as well so I will look into what changes can be made to make this
process more fluid. Sorry for the confusion!

- Papers will most definitely be accepted for this conference and the best
way to submit a paper is through the panel submission label.

If you have any more questions Steven let me know or email me if that works
best. Thanks for reading and I hope it helps!

- Christopher

Hi Christopher,

Thanks for the reply! It still feels a bit unintuitive putting in
info about a paper in the artistic statement section as it's labeled
biographical info. Also, doing papers but filling in information for
"piece" doesn't much make sense to me. I guess though it's easy enough
to work through, but I worry that others who come to the site and
might not be on this list might find it a bit confusing too.

Thanks though for the info about registration and what to do. I guess
it's about time now to get working on proposals. :)
