Hello, I have recently completed a long electroacoustic piece based on the Stations of the Cross. It's basically a concert for violin and electroacoustic score, where violin and concrete sounds are main characters, but an important role is also played by sounds of metal sound sources elaborated using Csound opcodes (convolve, pvoc, grain, hsboscil). Anyone interested in can listen to it on my website: http://www.giuseppeiacono.com/works/stations-of-the-cross-2015-16 Thank you for your attention, Giuseppe Iacono -- Sent from: http://csound.1045644.n5.nabble.com/Csound-General-f1093014.html Csound mailing list Csound@listserv.heanet.ie https://listserv.heanet.ie/cgi-bin/wa?A0=CSOUND Send bugs reports to https://github.com/csound/csound/issues Discussions of bugs and features can be posted here |

Hi Guiseppe, For some reason, I can't seem to open the link, is it just something happening here, or is the server temporarily down? best Oeyvind 2018-01-31 10:54 GMT+01:00 Gpp <giuseppeiacono.friends@gmail.com>: Hello, Oeyvind Brandtsegg Professor of Music Technology NTNU 7491 Trondheim Norway Cell: +47 92 203 205 http://www.partikkelaudio.com/ http://crossadaptive.hf.ntnu.no http://gdsp.hf.ntnu.no/ http://soundcloud.com/brandtsegg http://flyndresang.no/ http://soundcloud.com/t-emp |

Hi Oeyvind, it's odd, I can open the link and I can see that also other persons succeeded. Did you try also to open the home page? http://www.giuseppeiacono.com On the other hand I can't understand why should it happen just in your place (Norway?)? -- Sent from: http://csound.1045644.n5.nabble.com/Csound-General-f1093014.html Csound mailing list Csound@listserv.heanet.ie https://listserv.heanet.ie/cgi-bin/wa?A0=CSOUND Send bugs reports to https://github.com/csound/csound/issues Discussions of bugs and features can be posted here |

Now it works. Must have been a temporary glitch somewhere. Thanks for sharing. It is really striking with the raw and dry acoustic crunch of the violin in the context of the wide and floating perspective of the electroacoustic parts. 2018-01-31 12:32 GMT+01:00 Gpp <giuseppeiacono.friends@gmail.com>: Hi Oeyvind, Oeyvind Brandtsegg Professor of Music Technology NTNU 7491 Trondheim Norway Cell: +47 92 203 205 http://www.partikkelaudio.com/ http://crossadaptive.hf.ntnu.no http://gdsp.hf.ntnu.no/ http://soundcloud.com/brandtsegg http://flyndresang.no/ http://soundcloud.com/t-emp |

I'm enjoying the violin in this quite a bit - is it based on a score, or is it a collage of some improvised source material? On Wed, Jan 31, 2018 at 5:20 AM Oeyvind Brandtsegg <oyvind.brandtsegg@ntnu.no> wrote:

There is a very precise score, but the result is influenced by the unpredictability that these kind of sounds imply. -- Sent from: http://csound.1045644.n5.nabble.com/Csound-General-f1093014.html Csound mailing list Csound@listserv.heanet.ie https://listserv.heanet.ie/cgi-bin/wa?A0=CSOUND Send bugs reports to https://github.com/csound/csound/issues Discussions of bugs and features can be posted here |

it's a pleasure to listen - the reason I ask about the scoring is that I'm a violist of sorts and I've been looking at options for notating and replicating some of the more abrasive and unpredictable extended techiques. I have a hunch that looking at some Dumitrescu scores might help, or taking a closer look at Penderecki's Threnody, but other examples or insights are welcome (how's all that for OT?) It also seemed like the live instrument parts were cut and placed into the final recording, rather than being something that was performed alongside the electronics (though it would be easy to deceive that impression with some very minimal electronic processing of the instrument alongside the composed electronics). I have my own live processing system (usually running on a raspberry pi) that I use with my electric viola, and I'm interested in various approaches for using the physical instrument in real time with augmentation from electronics, beyond the simple "play along with a tape" and "use the computer as a guitar pedal" style options once again, thanks for sharing On Thu, Feb 1, 2018, 05:01 Gpp <giuseppeiacono.friends@gmail.com> wrote: Thank you for listening to the piece. |
