I use  Csound version 5.10, double samples (on Ubuntu 10.04).  For realtime
audio, this version rests on  PortAudio ... using blocking interface.

The non-blocking version of PortAudio is supposed to have much better
latency.

Are there versions of Csound that use the non-blocking PortAudio functions?

If not, is that planned?
