I thinking of a second installer for "core csound," i.e. no dependency on Python and perhaps no dependency on certain other things. What belongs in "core csound?" Regards, Mike -- Michael Gogins Irreducible Productions http://www.michael-gogins.com Michael dot Gogins at gmail dot com |

No Python, no VST, no TclCsound, no Cscore. As for the Utility programs, maybe some of these aren't necessary, either. Now that I'm thinking about this, it might be better if we defined what Csound Core should be. Off the top of my head, I think a super-reduced version that just supported running basic orcs and scos and MIDI would make for a good Csound Core. Then there is a question of including a GUI or not. If the goal is to create the smallest package necessary, I would say leave it out. If the goal is to create the smallest package possible necessary that also had newbies in mind, I'd say it would need a simple GUI. For my app all I need is the score processing, the standard opcodes, and an output to dac. Farther down the road I'll need MIDI input, too. I don't think I'll need a gui, the commandline being fine, but it may help when debugging the various temporary .csd files generated.
