[Csnd] Mistake in latest CSound Journal

Subject[Csnd] Mistake in latest CSound Journal
I read the article in the latest CSound journal about sequencing in blue, and I noticed the description of the pattern editor said that you can only assign four parts per beat.

I'm pretty sure that's incorrect. It's easy to miss the little arrow icon way off to the right (when you're looking at the illustration of a pattern being edited in the journal, it's the middle section with Pattern Name and pattern1 off to the left), which, when clicked, will allow you to change both the number of parts and the number of beats in the current pattern.

One might also get the wrong impression, looking at that same illustration, that one has to do a lot of copying in order to repeat beats or any sound object in blue. In every sound object's properties, one can set the time behavior to Repeat, and set a repeat point. Stretching said sound object will then determine how long it repeats. For me, that is one of the crucial aspects of sound objects that makes them easy to work with and comparable to modern sequencers.

Just wanted to clear that up. Other than that, it was an informative and well written article. Thanks Brian.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for pointing this out! I think I would have caught this in
editing but I didn't work on the article due to a conflict of
interest, and this is something that I would not expect Jim to have
caught since it is a feature that's not well documented.

Thanks again!
