Subject[Csnd] switch 32 and 64
Hello.

When experimenting and trying out things i would like to use the 32bit
version of Csound, but sometimes would like to "switch" to the double saples
version - to make use of the CsoundAPI within Blue.
in WindowsXP, can there be installed the two versions (floats and doubles)
at the same time without having interference problems?

Sure, as long as their environments are distinct. That is, in the PATH
or OPCODEDIR or whatever environment variables, 32 doesn't pick up any
DLLs for 64 or vice versa.

Hope this helps,
Mike

Yes, if you define OPCODEDIR, then the floating point version of
Csound will load the appropriate dll's (opcode libraries, drivers,
etc.) from there, then if you define OPCODEDIR64, then the doubles
version will load everything from there. I've run float/double on the
same machine doing this.

Hi Mike and Steven,

Can you be more explicit?

Csound create a folder in Program...can the two version co-exist in the same
folder or do we have to install one version in one folder
(C:\program\csound) and the other elsewhere (i.e. C:\csound)?

As for the PATH and OPCODEDIR environment variables, can you give us an
example (the PATH and OPCODEDIR of your PC)?

Regards,

Marc

This is one layout you could:

c:\csound\csound.exe
c:\csound\lib\[all your opcode libs for float, this folder is OPCODEDIR]
c:\csound64\csound.exe
c:\csound64\lib\[all your opcode libs for double, this folder is OPCODEDIR64]

or you could do:

c:\csound\csound.exe
c:\csound\csound64.exe
c:\csound\lib\[opcodes for float]
c:\csound\lib64\[opcodes for double]
