Subject | [Csnd] QuteCsound error message OS X |
Hello - I am getting some strange error messages when running 'in terminal' .csds in QuteCsound - I was having no problems with this a month or so ago when I last tried, though I'm not sure what has changed in the mean time - I am using version 0.45. Regular run gets no errors, but I also get no sound, I think because it cannot access the tables it needs. This particular error report happend while trying to run Iain McCurdy's "SchedkwhenGranulation" instrument, but it seems to be doing this on every instrument I try to compile. Anyway, if anyone has any ideas as to what might be going wrong, let me know. Error report follows: Last login: Wed Dec 9 00:28:05 on ttys000 /var/folders/4s/4s9OKZktFmeLngR9M-cSZ++++TI/-Tmp-/qutecsound_run_script.sh ; exit; cpc7-dals15-2-0-cust55:~ UnUnUnium$ /var/folders/4s/4s9OKZktFmeLngR9M-cSZ++++TI/-Tmp-/qutecsound_run_script.sh ; exit; /usr/local/bin/csound /Applications/Csoundstuff/CsoundRealtimeExamples/GranularSynthesis/SchedkwhenGranulation.csd -+rtaudio=portaudio -iadc4 -odac3 --env:SADIR=/Users/UnUnUnium/Music/Samples/Csound/Analysis --env:SSDIR=/Users/UnUnUnium/Mu --env:SFDIR=/Users/UnUnUnium/Music/Samples/Csound/SoundOut --env:INCDIR=/Users/UnUnUnium/Desktop --env:CSNOSTOP=yes PortMIDI real time MIDI plugin for Csound PortAudio real-time audio module for Csound virtual_keyboard real time MIDI plugin for Csound 0dBFS level = 32768.0 Csound version 5.11 (float samples) Sep 24 2009 libsndfile-1.0.20 orchname: /Applications/Csoundstuff/CsoundRealtimeExamples/GranularSynthesis/SchedkwhenGranulation.csd scorename: rtaudio: PortAudio module enabled ... using callback interface rtmidi: PortMIDI module enabled orch compiler: 328 lines read error: illegal character <, line 1: |

Hi, I'm not seeing this problem... I just downloaded Iain's package to a Mac and it ran without any changes. Hello Andrés, I get a similar message when I run not in terminal using QuteCsound - I notice you have the same "missing ftable" error as I: soundin cannot open ClassicalGuitar.wav
ftable 1: Failed to open file f 1 0.00 1048576.00 1.00 "ClassicalGuitar.wav" ... INIT ERROR in instr 1: Invalid ftable no. 1.000000 #i0 nsamp.i gifn T 0.063 - note deleted. i1 had 1 init errors INIT ERROR in instr 1: Invalid ftable no. 1.000000 #i0 nsamp.i gifn T 1.034 - note deleted. i1 had 1 init errors
If I open it in Terminal, I get the aforementioned errors. Perhaps it has to do with something else on my system? Cheers, Jeremy On Wed, Dec 9, 2009 at 4:00 PM, Andres Cabrera <mantaraya36@gmail.com> wrote:

I think it's just a problem with your pathname, as the error message says. Can you try another file? Is ClassicalGuitar.wav in the same folder as your .csd? joachim Am 09.12.2009 um 20:19 schrieb J: > Hello Andrés, > > I get a similar message when I run not in terminal using QuteCsound > - I notice you have the same "missing ftable" error as I: > > soundin cannot open ClassicalGuitar.wav > ftable 1: Failed to open file > f 1 0.00 1048576.00 1.00 "ClassicalGuitar.wav" ... > INIT ERROR in instr 1: Invalid ftable no. 1.000000 > #i0 nsamp.i gifn > T 0.063 - note deleted. i1 had 1 init errors > INIT ERROR in instr 1: Invalid ftable no. 1.000000 > #i0 nsamp.i gifn > T 1.034 - note deleted. i1 had 1 init errors > > If I open it in Terminal, I get the aforementioned errors. ClassicalGuitar.wav is not in the same folder as the .csd, but it is in the folder specified by SSDIR in the preferences. I did verify that it does work without samples with the example from the reverbsc manual entry, which seems to work fine.
Cheers, Jeremy

HI, I just checked and it seems to be working. Are you sure you checked the box to enable usage of SSDIR? Cheers On Wed, Dec 9, 2009 at 8:47 PM, J |

I did, and just double checked that the sample is in there. It still can't find the sample when I run it using the standard "run" - But here's the odd thing: it now works fine in "run in term", which nothing did before, and I haven't changed anything! The weird syntax error is gone....
Computer voodoo and confusion!! Cheers, Jeremy
