Quick question (which relates to trying to get my 60x60 project done quickly):

I am looking for a free midi sequencer for Windows XP. I have used Anvil 
with some success, but when I record my playing in real-time, there is a 
large lag in response. (This is playing the sound through the Windows 
software sampler.) I'm not sure if I can adjust a setting to improve this.

So I thought I would ask what my other options are.

I have a sampled piano "engine" which can run standalone or as a VST 
instrument, so it might be neat to use a sequencer which can run VST 
instruments.

Acid Xpress does midi and can load VSTi iirc
http://www.acidplanet.com/downloads/xpress/

I haven't used it in years, but it may be close to what you're looking
for, for free.
