Subject[Csnd] Csound choir: call for new members

***THE INTERNATIONAL CSOUND CHOIR EXPECTS NEW SINGERS TO ALL VOICE GROUPS **

Please enroll!

Of course, you have to write your voice in Csound first.

Are you willing to take part in the Csound conference but can't be there? I

have prepared an inter-continental interactive sound game where you can

perform also sitting at home.

The piece is called "Và, pensiero", it's performance in is planned for Sunday,

27.10, concert beginning at 9:30 am (GMT -4 hrs) in Boston (see

http://csound.org/schedule/). In short, one performer plays a well known

choir tune on a midi keyboard on spot, the keys trigger the instruments

written by the choir, the members are expected to reprogram

their voices during performance and send the changes via a TCP server to a

computer on spot, to be united in love and harmony in the concert hall :)

To be accepted to the choir (everybody is very welcome!!), please send me your

"voice" (well, an instrument, it does not need to resemble voice per se) following some guidelines:

- please name the instrument by you

- keep it reasonably simple, light and stable (no indexes out of range etc)

- the instrument should receive amplitude as p4 (0..1), frequency as p5 (in Hz) and panning as p6 (0...1)

- the output is stereo and the given panning should be used

aL, aR pan2 ipan ; or p6

outs aL, aR

- you may use tables or global k variables for redefining values

for example:

gkVibrRate init 8

gkVibrAmp init 1.9

instr tarmo

iamp = p4

ifreq = p5

ipan = p6

kenv linenr iamp,0.1,0.5,0.01

a1 poscil kenv, ifreq, -1

a2 poscil kenv*gkVibrAmp,ifreq+gkVibrRate,-1 ; create beatings like vibrato

aL,aR pan2 a1+a2, ipan

outs aL, aR

endin

You may polish and change your instuments later!

Please let me know, which voice you would like to belong to: soprano 1, soprano 2, alto, tenore 1, tenore 2, basso.

If you cannot take part in the performance - you can still contribute your voice to the choir.

You are expected to take part in testing and discussing the project.

I will send further instructions to the choristers off-list.

Thank you!

tarmo

HI,

I have not had any feedback? Are there people who want to take part?

It is very late anyway, but this weekend we should definitely do some testing to decide wheteher to go on. Or I will withdraw this project this time.

best!

Nice idea Tarmo, but I'll have to decline. I'm up to my eyes in
preparation for my own participation at the conference. I expect a lot
of people are, hence the lack of response?

SubjectRe: [Csnd] Re: Csound choir: call for new members
Hi - I completely unsterstand the situation. Indeed, very many active members
of the list are very busy getting ready for the conference. And I was pretty
late with my announcement, too.

Most likely it is best to do this project another time, but I will decideit
in the beginning of next week.

I like the idea myself too - it was now meant as a small amusing game but in
fact it explores the use of csound for interactive web-based co-work. Could
have potential, I think.

IF not to do it now - I will ask for help in more peaceful time to test,
discuss etc in the future.

If there is still a bunch of people who would take part and support the idea,
please let me know! Let's think.

best regards!
tarmo
