Hi,
A tiny bit off-topic, but I'm told it might be of interest to a few people... I have a delta 1010LT I really like. In looking for spare breakout cables in case of cat, I discovered that it's been discontinued (with most of the m-audio sound cards) and isn't available.
Any recommendations for sound cards that work well with Linux? (Jack/ALSA.) Thanks, Jen |

If you don't mind using FireWire, ffado.org allow you to list devices that have full support, meaning vendors work together with the ffado team to develop Linux drivers for the sound cards. Among them are the Echo Audio AudioFire series of cards. I've always found corresponding listings on the ALSA-side lacking. In general I find it nigh on impossible to figure out if a specific sound card has alsa support. My experience though is that all Echo cards have always been working well. Previously there were general problems with getting USB 2.0 audio to work, which limited the number of channels that USB allowed on Linux, but I believe recent kernels and versions of ALSA have remedied that, so multichannel USB Echo cards would perhaps be a good bet if that's your preference. I realize I might come across as affiliated with Echo Audio. I'm not. I just speak from experience after having looked for good multichannel cards on Linux. Also, many RME cards work well and are of excellent quality, but the are somewhat pricy. Best regards, Anders 16 okt 2013 kl. 17:02 skrev Jennifer Doering |
