[Csnd] Tech Editor Needed for New Csound Book

Subject[Csnd] Tech Editor Needed for New Csound Book
I'm putting the finishing touches on *Csound Power*, which will be published
in early 2012 by Cengage Learning. As my manuscript nears completion, I need
a technical editor to read it and flag the places where I've made silly
mistakes or simply failed to mention important concepts.

I'm putting this message out to the mailing list in the hope that one of the
Csound luminaries (you know who you are) will graciously step forward and
volunteer.

The job will probably take a couple of days. You'll need to read the
manuscript, take notes, flag errors, and make any suggestions that come to
mind. Cengage does pay the technical editor -- though, as my contact at
Cengage freely admits, they don't pay top dollar. Ideally, I'd like to
receive the tech editor's notes and comments no later than mid-October.

This book is intended to be a newcomer's guide to Csound. There's a lot of
step-by-step introductory material (including many code examples), and much
less discussion of advanced features.

If you'd like to tackle the job, please email me: midiguru23 at sbcglobal
dot net.

Thanks!

I am looking forward to read the book
Csound can be difficult for newcomers
Today almost everybody use (commercial closed source) sequencerprograms with
plug-ins to make music on computers
Only a few would use open source music programming software as Csound,
SuperCollider, Pd etc.

I'm hoping Jim Aikin's book will make it much easier for those
musicians who might find Csound more useful than commercial closed
source software to get started, to get them over the learning curve.

I'd offer my own services as tech editor, but I am way over committed right now.

Regards,
Mike

I don't expect Csound ever to be as easy to use as Garageband, but I'm
hoping to make it less intimidating and more approachable.

Both QuteCsound and blue (in very different ways) are sure to open the door
a little wider.

At the moment, I have a volunteer who has engaged to do the technical edit,
and several other people have expressed an interest in helping. I really
appreciate how willing Csound users are to get involved!

P.S.: Avast anti-virus keeps telling me the Csound Nabble web page is
infected with malware. Does anyone know anything about that?

Do you need proofreaders? I'd be happy to volunteer.

David.

Me, too. Not sure about tech editing 'tho'..perhaps at a more
elementary level.
