If you want to build Csound on Ubuntu you can have a look at the Csound Wiki:

This is for Ubuntu 64 bit so minor changes are needed.

Sounds great. 

I got into all sorts of trouble with apt-get csound-deps. So hopefully
this will use Synaptic and be able to be backed-out from. 
 
I hope the 32-bit build is not too opaque.
