[Csnd] cSound 5.11 and OS-X 10.6

Subject[Csnd] cSound 5.11 and OS-X 10.6
The installer for cSound 5.11 fails on an Intel install of Snow Leopard
because it says it needs Rosetta in order to complete. With the release of
OS-X 10.6 I removed Rosetta from my system and don't plan on re-installing
it. cSound 5.10 didn't have this requirement. Is there a way around it?

Thanks.

Why does it need rosetta? It was compiled and built on an Intel machine,
with
intel-only code? I guess the Rosetta thing does not make any sense and I
think
it's probably something else that OSX mis diagnoses.

Anyway, there is no guarantees that the 10.5 installer will work on any
other
version. You can try the 10.4 installer.

Subject[Csnd] Re: cSound 5.11 and OS-X 10.6
The installer tries to run a program called "rezza", I believe - I am not at
that machine now and can't double check. When OS-X tries to run it, a
warning pops up saying that Rosetta will have to be installed to run it and
asking if you want it to be installed. While it is waiting on an answer to
that question, the installer window goes to a "Installation Failed" message.

cSound 5.10 was packaged as a gzipp'd tar file. I was able to unpack it and
just move things where I needed them.

Yep, I see what the problem is. Rezza is indeed PPC and I forgot about it
completely (but it was there on 5.10 too, so it's strange that worked). I
will
fix the installer and let this list know once I upload it again.

Thanks for letting me know.

Please give it half an hour before downloading it. I noticed that
sourceforge still
has the old 25/09 package. Make sure the package you download is from
today.

HI all,
I  installed the old 5.11 OS-X 10.6 package and enabled rosetta.
I read that having rosetta running affects CPU performances.
Does anyone of you know if it's possible to remove it or disable it?

best regards
Francesco

Rosetta is not used in running Csound. It was used in the installer to run a
utility call reza as part of the installation. But I have updated it to use an Intel
reza instead. If you have already installed Csound you don't need to do anything,
and you can disable rosetta if you wish.
