Hi Victor, Andrés - I've just checked the new Mac Installer (csound5.11-OSX10.5-Intel). First, congratulations! This is so simple now, with a clear readme, and an example folder which can be expanded certainly in the future releases. I found two issues: 1) The QuteCsound version which is included is rather old. For instance, without the portugese translation and many other new features and examples. 2) I tried Examples->Tutorials->Toot1 and it hangs. The report is attached. It seems to be related to the widget window; perhaps because there is no channel name for the scope widget or because "all" is selected? It tried changing this or that, and finally it worked but I'm not really sure why. Best regards - joachim |

I can replace QuteCsoiund with a new one; the one I added I thought was the latest compiled binary I could find. So if there is a newer binary version there, given a link I can easily replace the binary tomorrow. Victor ----- Original Message ----- From: "joachim heintz" |

Hi Joachim and Victor, The latest released version for OS X is 0.4.1 which is actually quite old. I don't have access to a Mac right now to make a release (just unpacking in Belfast), so Joachim, can you help me build a new release? The sources haven't changed since the release, but I'll be commiting some recent fixes soon, so you may want to get the source package from sourceforge. Victor - I've built the most recent QuteCsound version for Mac and uploaded it on the QuteCsound sourceforge site. Unfortunately I can just see it when I'm logged in as a developer. I don't know whether I did something wrong or whether it's a sourceforge issue. Anyway, I uploaded it also here: http://www.joachimheintz.de/soft/QuteCsound-0.4.3-OSX10.5-Intel-incQt.tar.gz Perhaps you can try it shortly and then include it in the Mac installer instead of the old 0.4.1 version. I installed the new version on the computer in my university (OSX 10.5). Unfortunately the problem which I reported earlier is still there: The default.csd (and e.g. toot1) make QuteCsound hang when running. Obviously this is related to the widget panel. I've sent a hang report as attachment of the first mail of this thread. Andrés can you find time to look at this? Then it will be a pleasure for me to build a new release one more time. At the moment it's really bad: The beginner runs the default.csd, and it dies, and he don't know why. Is this no problem under Windows or Linux? The default CSD works OK here, as does toot1.csd Victor On 6 Oct 2009, at 16:41, joachim heintz wrote: > I installed the new version on the computer in my university (OSX > 10.5). Hi, El mar, 06-10-2009 a las 17:41 +0200, joachim heintz escribió: > I installed the new version on the computer in my university (OSX > 10.5). I've just tried it and it works fine. If I create a new file, and press run, QuteCsound asks me to save the file and then it will run OK. The only caveat is that for some strange reason, Csound will not terminate the performance if there is an "e" statement in the score... so you have to press stop manually... Can you try building with debug enabled and run it in the debugger, so that you can tell me which line exactly is causing the problem. It would seem from the error log that it is the Scope widget that is causing trouble. If you remove it does it work? Just to try as this is one of those strange things... Can you try moving the Qt libraries from the /Libraries folder? Cheers, Andrés On 10/6/09, joachim heintz |

No this makes no difference. Deleting the scope widget helps. But it's really strange that Victor doesn't have this problem, and I have it on two different computers. I can try tomorrow still another machine. It's good that it's not a general problem. Thanks for having a look, Andrés. I opened Qutecsound, saved the default.csd and then played it, no crashes. I then opened toot1.csd from the examples menu, played it, no crashes. Victor Ps.: it would be really nice if we could get the signal for a scope from a named audio channel, to probe in parts of a synthesis algorithm.
