Hi All, just a little question: using CsoundAC or csnd from python for rendering a file there are orc and sco files saved to disk. There is a way to avoid this? Thanks, ciao, fran. |

I'm no python export but I don't think it is possible as Csound must be passed files from disk. 2009/10/26 francibal |

I wish there was. That would require some moderately significant changes to the internals of Csound. Such changes would be a good idea, but there are too many other projects on my agenda for me to do it. Regards, Mike On 10/26/09, Rory Walsh |

Hello All, For those of you who may be interested, I have finished a new Csound based CD. The title is "POSets (Partially Ordered Sets)". Each piece was composed using Csound and Cmask and employed the Score Based Sampling paradigm. I have been expanding and refining the same "diskin" instrument for over 10 years now, which was the only Csound instrument used for the CD. One significant change I made to this instrument for this CD was that I converted it to produce an 8 channel output rather than stereo. I still use stereo samples for the source material but now diffuse them in various combinations in an 8 channel environment. Tendency masks in Cmask determine these combinations. To create the LFE output I make a stereo mix of the 8 channel piece and then use a lowpass filter with a cutoff around 60 hz. To hear the entire CD in the mp3 format, simply visit www.perceptionfactory.com... and follow the links. The last piece on the CD, "Cygnus Loop", premiered at the Harvest Moon Festival at Concordia University in Montreal on Sept 31st. During the concert I gave a talk concerning, amongst other things, the spatial considerations. The concert was webcast and then archived so if you would like to listen to the concert and my talk you can visit the following link. http://music.concordia.ca/HarvestMoon/Harvest_Moon_VI/HM_VI-Program.html The Harvest Moon Festival and the entire music program at Concordia University is really wonderful. They provide quite a service to the E/A community in many ways... As always, comments are welcome. Thx, Michael Send bugs reports to this list. What about a Csound Journal article on your diskin technique? Sounds like something we'd like to hear more about. Hi Michael, I'm enjoying the mp3's very much and I'm wondering if you're ok with links to your mp3 page from the new "Csound Artist's" page I'm planning for the Sourceforge site. Would that be ok by you? Cheers, ~ andy.f ----- "Michael Rhoades" |
