Subject[Csnd] csound~ versions - csound libraries
Good evening everybody ,

I'm having some problems using the csound~ v.1.1.0 object in both Max6.1.6
and MaxMSP 5.1.9 on the same laptop (MacBook Pro OSX 10.9.3).

Even though there are no errors during the compilation of the .csd file
using Csound version 6.03.2 (double samples May 12 2014 - GUI WinXound),
MaxMSP 5 crashes when it sends the first message through csound~, while Max6
doesn't. Vice versa if I compile the .csd file using Csound version 5.2 the
csound~ object doesn't even work in Max6, while MaxMSP 5 works perfectly.
The only way I had to figure out this problem was uninstalling one Csound
Library at a time.

Is there any possibility to let all these environments coexist?

Why am I asking this? Because I work in a studio which works in MaxMSP 5
while I use to work in Max6 at home. So to be sure that everything is
working everywhere, I usually test the patches in both the programs using my
computer.

thank you very very much

Davide

Hi Davide,

When you mention Csound 6.03.2, are you also using v1.1.2 of csound~?
I think v1.1.0 that Davis Pyon released only worked with Csound5.
v1.1.2 which is available at Sourceforge and also comes with the
latest Csound installer for OSX is only built for Csound6. It has also
only been built for Max 6.

If you are testing a CSD with Csound 6 and WinXound, it may be that
the CSD uses features that were either new in CS6 or bug fixed since
CS5.

This is not directly helpful, but a max 6 dongle may be the solution. You can ask cycling74 to transfer your licence to an iLok account attached to a dongle (they do this for free I think). That way you can use it anywhere on any computer. I'd do this, over using two versions of max or csound.
